Hello Sports Fans!
Feelings are just information ... Depression, Anxiety, Anger, Stress, Worry ... Hunger, Shivering, Yawning ... you feel a hot stove, you feel cold metal, you feel a sharp edge ... these are ALL supposed to just be "information" that you can THEN DECIDE what YOU WANT to do about. Your "feelings" are NOT supposed to dictate your life. How often have you been "tired" and did something anyway, "cold" and still worked, "hot" and continued, "bored" but pushed through, "hungry" but stayed till the end, had to pee but waited until you were finished ... and on and on and on. All of these are simply sensory information. The issue is, we have stopped using our prefrontal cortex in the way it was designed, and we have let "the body" take over as the 'brain'. This means that now, if we are "stressed" we can't do it, or if we are "tired" we don't feel like it. Part of mental resilience, grit, self-efficacy, and discipline, all involve "judging" our sensory information as "information" not "directions." As the old saying goes, courage is not the absence of fear, it is being afraid and saddling up anyway. The Rub If you have LEARNED to take sensory information as directions, you must RELEARN to take it as information instead. It WILL NOT just change back on its own. Why? Because it has become part of your automatic thoughts. Aka, part of your subconscious programming. So you must now "WORK" at rewiring the subconscious. Thanks to neuroplasticity, this is VERY doable regardless of your age, or issue. Just yell if you would like to know "how" :) Illegitimi non Carborundum!
